Darren McGrady was a to chef Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family
Darren McGrady, the former royal chef and author of Eating Royally, recently revealed that the Queen of England eats a slice of chocolate biscuit cake daily.
Speaking to RecipesPlus McGrady said: “Now the Chocolate Biscuit Cake is the only cake that goes back again and again and again everyday until it’s all gone. She’ll take a small slice every day until eventually there is only one tiny piece, but you have to send that up, she wants to finish the whole of that cake.”
In the interview McGrady explained that several types of cake are made for The Queen, and after she’s had a small slice the rest of the staff will finish off the sweet treats; however that’s not the case for the Chocolate Biscuit Cake. McGrady revealed that if a slice of the cake went missing, Her Majesty would notice, so they dare not take a piece!
And if the Queen were travelling and there was Chocolate Biscuit Cake left over, the senior chef would follow her with the cake in tow.
Here at Cakes in the Capital we’re just thrilled to hear Her Majesty is as fond of cake as we are! We wonder what she’d think of Ben’s chocolate biscuit cake…
